Next week is the last meeting of our treasured ones (and my birthday buddy) Mr Bill van Ast. We are having a “surprise” party to farewell Him. I expect each and everyone of you to have a short story about Bill ready to tell us on the night.

 

Several of you may recall back in early December a cyclist called Ben Woods was riding around Australia taking the ashes of his brother whom he had lost to suicide back in 2015, came through Geraldton, stayed at my place and a few of us had a barbecue for him down on the foreshore. Then on Sunday morning some cyclists rode out of town with him. Well he finished the ride around Australia on 10 February(ie last month) and the video footage is wonderful showing Ben crossing the finish line, jumping off his bicycle (effectively abandoning it) and straight into the arms of his waiting father.

But wait! There’s more. Many folks have been asking Ben and his wife Kat what now! Now that the ride for Jase is over. Well Kat told me they have a cracker of an answer to that question now! Kat is expecting twins! And furthermore twins who were “Made in W.A” so she tells me one day they will bring their babies back to visit us. I am looking forward to that.

Youth Service: Tom Thuijs, RWADE Patience had a prime mover with trailers, so the kids could climb up in and see that the driver can not see bikes if they are close. Thanks Vaughan for co ordinating the day. Wild West last weekend in August and are looking for sponsors.

 

 

 

Membership: Greg Sivwright, was a month out for the date for Special guests Kel and Julie Turner. Encourage people to go along to the guest speakers at conference.

 

Club Service: Jen Edwards, needs help to set up for the dinner 7 April between 12noon and 5pm. Needs numbers for Bill’s send off.

 

Public Relations: Vaughan Masters, RWADE went well, Thank you to the helpers and there were 100 students.

 

Mark Worthington, needs helpers for the Bar for the conference. Need helpers to put the fence up for the bar. Dead Reds 20 April at The Geraldton Club. Have Flying Doctor wines for the raffle.

 

Sue Svensson, 14 April Geraldton Prospecting Group are having a camp out. Steele is having a Bonfire in the evening. There is a good raffle if anyone wants tickets. I am going to York for a leaders meeting.
