President’s report.
Interactors Movie Night
Last Friday I waved our flag at the Interactor’s movie night that they held for fund raising. Earlier in the day I purchased, from Leading Edge Electronics, 2 x Virtual Reality Goggle sets (that you put your smart phone into and see things in 3D with the right apps) and gave to the Interactors for raffles. They put one in the raffle for the night and saved the other for next time. I then stayed for a couple of hours selling raffle tickets which was all they needed from us soit is lucky we did not have you all lined up to come and help because they had it under control and you would not have had anything to do. I asked the President Aaron how they were doing and he said they were very happy because this was the largest number of movie night attendees that they had to date.
President Propposal- Joe & Yvonne Ricupero Honorary Life Membership
Further to our proposal to offer Joe and Yvonne Ricupero honorary life membership to our club, I had no emails or communication from anyone about this proposal since I mentioned it to you at our last meeting so I rang Joe and Yvonne and asked if I could visit them on Saturday morning. When I arrived, I found Joe ‘dressed to the nines’ in his immaculate suit… doing the gardening! Best dressed gardener in town, he tells me. He also reckons that he has so many good clothes that he may as well use them now.
We had a cup of tea together and I explained to them both how we would like them to consider our offer of honorary life membership and they were both honoured and immediately accepted.
So the next step is to decide when and how, ideally I would like to have had it at our changeover Dinner but Joe tells me they declined our invitation to that event purely because of the venue. You will recall that is where Yvonne had a bad fall last year so this is understandable.
Later that same day I ran into Jennifer and I mentioned to her that it might be good if we changed the venue but she almost had heart failure on the spot and when she is heavily pregnant I thought perhaps it was not a wise thing to say.
So I was thinking we could have an afternoon tea function so I have booked the Catholic Centre which was easy access and is available on Saturday 14 july from 1 to 4.
Another idea I had was to book Faye’s stretch limousine with Nygal as the driver to collect them and deliver them to the venue, and of course , take them home again.
Any comments? Thoughts?
