It was a busy meeting tonight with a full house, we had several special guests
- Lisa Marie Austad our new exchange student from Norway
- John Regan about to become new member
- DG Charles Johnson Visiting Rotarian
- AG/PP Clark Scarff Visiting Rotarian
A warm welcome extended to all of them.
Some important milestones:
Birthday Nygal Brooks 7th Aug
Anniversary Mike and Sue Purslow – 9th Aug
Rotary Anniversary Chris Edwards – 12th Aug – 5 years
Mike Purslow won the raffle but donated it back as doesn't drink wine!
Chase the ace up to ~$80
Fines were many, but a lot could not be explained…. I think what happens on Variety stays on Variety the mind does boggle though at the thought of Nygal in a red bikini!
We have a lot going on and in fact DG Charles said we should be very proud of what we are doing – for a small club we punch well above our weight

DG Charles Johnson spoke to us about:
End Polio Now and Polio Plus they are asking for all clubs to give $1500 US towards defeating this disease. It is so close but so far and to make it worse Over 100 workers have been murdered while supporting this cause so for them alone he said we need to give our support.
DG Charles had raffle tickets of his own for a painting done by an artist associated with the Purple House. (Anyone who was at conference in Geraldton and heard Sarah Brown speak will know what a wonderful project this is)
He commented on alternative meeting formats, times & frequencies also alternative membership types. "Makeup meetings" weren't happening like they sued to but suggested that people consider them as way to see what other clubs are doing and to think about working with other clubs more.
He also touched on
·Our district 9455's FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) project Making FASD History they have Global Partners for this which is really exciting and great to see work being done on this problem
·Rotary Health
·Using the Ri website it has a lot of information and resources
·Social Media training coming up in the near future
·Copies of District directory were made available but are also online on district website.
·District grants our club should apply and would qualify as we give to foundation
It was all very interesting in fact so interesting I kept forgetting to make notes!
“The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found but made. And the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination.”
We need to apply this to Rotary
And I will finish there too. Actually we finished up with Cake for Nygal's birthday – thanks Nygal and Happy Birthday for tomorrow
