In many ways last night's meeting was very sobering especially when you hear…
By 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish.
Our guest speaker Darren Lomman from Greenbatch was a very inspirational speaker.
We started with a short video of Barry Rassin's (RI President) impassioned 18-19 Theme Address at International Conference. I recommend you watch it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB_TF4qFCBs
Darren then gave us some scary data like the amount of water bottles consumed 1500/second would reach Perth to Sydney lined up end to end quicker than we can drive there !!! He then went on to tell us about
the Greenbatch program. How they will take water bottles PET (#1) and recycle to make filament that we are currently buying from overseas for use in 3D printers
This is exciting not only because it is working with schools, Rotaract, the return deposit system for bottles. It is something I hope our club will find out more about and get involved with. For more information have a read of https://www.greenbatch.com/our-story/

We also had an interesting meeting tonight at the Club level President Lee made an appearance for just a few seconds then with a return to President Sue the evening kicked off with a reminder that the Gallipoli Trench Project has an event this weekend.
Mick Powell mentioned Hat Day coming up in October we will be having a 3 club event for this, should be good
Our inbound student Lisa Maire Foelstad arrives in Geraldton Lee is kindly picking her up from Perth this weekend. Lee will drop her to the Bell house Sunday afternoon Lisa Marie will then go to her first host family Simon & Joanne Keemink on Monday afternoon after being kitted out in school uniform and a meeting at the school.
Mark Worthington had some information re ducks (or dux) which I cant tell you as he would have to kill you it's secret men's business 😊 he did tell us that a tree had fallen down on our signage wall at 440 Mainroads were assisting…. with the removal I think not the felling
